The gender confusion of these modern times is but one of many salient indicators of Fallen Man's separation from God.
Genesis Chapter One:
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. The principle of the male and female as complementary halves of the spiritual creature known as man (i.e. the human being) is placed at the beginning of Genesis and is therefore, by direct implication, an elementary standard. Its structure is so basic and inherent in God's Mystery that sin, as separation from God, could only seek to undermine it.
To argue that man was created in the image of God, and thus his variances from this standard are indeed God's will, would be to ignore Original Sin as subsequent to Adam and Eve's creation.
In some circles of the contemporary organized Christian church, the tares have sprung up, attempting to uproot the elementary standard of Adam's manhood and Eve's womanhood. In so doing, they flagrantly violate God's order.
Against this backdrop of apostasy, The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood produced the Danvers Statement in 1987, a comprehensive call to return manhood and womanhood to their proper roots in God's Word.
The narcissism of the intellectuals, artists, and those in power is one of the motivating forces that leads to confusing God's basic principles. They choose not, or cannot, see that their genius, talent, and ambition are God's gifts to them. In other words, the narcissists ignore the edge of the precipice because the world they have created for themselves is an appealing mirage. The exaltation of Self is fundamental to the propagation of sin and separation from God.
In his fallen nature, man rebels against and refuses to submit his will to God. Godly men and women are called to submit their will to the Creator, who in His towering love and genius, knows far more than any man or woman called to ecclesiastical, intellectual, artistic, or political pursuit.
The gender roles are not defined by society. No amount of exterior identity modeling can alter a person; God has high standards, and He changes the individual from the inside-out. Neither the conservative gender roles of the 1950s nor the dissipated roles of today (or anything in between) can definitively be looked upon as God's model. Man's vision is limited. His god or gods are small. A man without God is simply the sum of his parts whatever they may be — a lot or a little.
In the area of contemporary art and literature exegesis, society has ignored authorial intent; no more so in the area of God's Word. God's intent for His children is far more powerful and exciting than anything man could conceive.
God's true roles for the male and female are free from the bondage of the flesh and ultimately glories God in the highest. He sent his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to pay the price for man's sin and restore him to the presence of the Holy of Holies. By the grace of God are true manhood and womanhood achieved.
